About BearingPoint China

About BearingPoint Global Development Center
The Global Development Center (GDC), BearingPoint''s brand new preferred "off
-shore" software development facility, was established in Oct 2002. It is th
e first global development center in BearingPoint history. Located in a high
-technology park in Shanghai, China, its 4,500 m2 single building providing
services to global clients as well as BearingPoint. GDC has been certified a
t SEI CMM Maturity Level 3 and will continue its journey of software quality
and process improvement and hit the target of achieving Level 4 by end of F
Y04 and Level5 (the highest level) by Q2 FY05.
The launch of the GDC represents an expanded delivery approach for developin
g new software, one that provides our clients with the flexibility of on-sho
re program/project management, analysis and design, and off-shore developmen
t of defined components. As a delivery model, this provides our clients the
customary excellence of our local consultants and managers, offers a competi
tive advantage utilizing the large IT development skills market in China, dr
iving technology cost takeout and profit growth initiatives.
Currently, there are 200 employees at GDC. The number will reach 600 by the
end of FY04, and come to 5000 in the next 3 to 5 years
